To All Returning and New Challenger Division Players

Welcome to the 2008 Baseball Season of the Lindenhurst American Little League – Paul D’Agostino Challenger Division. The Challenger Division is open to all children with disabilities from ages 5 to 21 from the start of our first scheduled game. The fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give you a chance to play baseball to the best of your ability. Playing with baseball equipment on Little League fields, Challenger Division participants learn not only the fundamentals of baseball, but also how it feels to pull together as a team, being cheered by family and friends. There is no fee for playing on the Challenger Little League team due to the generousity of our Sponsors.

If you have a friend that would like to play baseball, or know of anyone looking for a fun way to spend a Sunday morning, either by volunteering to help as a coach or a buddy, or any aspect of the program, please ask him or her to email either:

Anthony Chironno, Director / Challenger League Board Member

Dave Barrett, Asst. Director / Challenger League Board Member

Below find links to download the necessary forms to participate in Challenger Baseball. Please scan and email back the forms to us, or simply mail them to us at the address listed on the bottom of this web page.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If there are any questions not addressed on this page,
feel free to contact us directly!

Are there practice sessions?

No. Challenger Baseball is non-competative Division with a main goal of having the players enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide. With limited field availability, our players will learn as they play.

Do I need to purchase my player's equipment?

No. We have a supply of bats, balls, baseball mits, and batting helmuts of varied sizes. If your player has their own equipment, please ensure their names are on them lest they may become misplaced. We gladly accept
donations of baseball equipment!

What is a Challenger "Buddy"?

The Challenger "Buddies" assist the Challenger players on the field but whenever possible, encourage the players to bat and make plays themselves. However, the buddy is always nearby to help when needed.
We encourage all to participate in our games!

Why do I have to fill out a "Registration/Health" form each season for my player?

There are several reasons for this. Little League insurance covers all players while on the ball field. Their requirements dictate the completion of these forms. Further, in case of an accident, a signed medical release form is necessary to afford immediate First Aid. Simply stated, No signed forms, no ball play on the field!

Are there other Long Island Challenger Divisions?

Yes! Little League's Website will soon include a search feature by zip code to find your closest Challenger Division. If below listed town is underlined, you may visit their website by clicking on the town name.
